Kaleb Hill Commits to Boise State

The great new Boise State coaches have reeled in another commitment in the Class of 2014.  "Glad to say I've committed to the Boise State Broncos", Hill tweeted moments ago.

Hill is another coup for the Broncos, a 6-1, 210-pound defensive end from Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas.  He visited Boise State over the weekend, and pulled the trigger today.

Kaleb has long arms, is quick to the ball, and is a fierce hitter.  Hill very likely could fit nicely into the Broncos' "Stud" position, a hybrid defensive end/linebacker, ala Shea McClellin.

Hill chose Boise State over offers from Colorado, Texas-San Antonio and Vanderbilt, and interest from Houston, Notre Dame and Texas Tech.

Boise State Has Pulled In The #8 Safety in the Nation and the #8 Tight End in the Nation

Amazing job by this exciting and energetic group of Bronco coaches in six week's time.

Boise State's New Football Coaches Have Done All This in Six Weeks

Two four-star recruits pulled in thus far, and very possibly a third.  They now have 15 recruits committed to Boise State with still a week to go.

Chase Blakely Has Switched from Washington to Boise State

Smart man!

Blakely, a 6-4, 235-pound tight end from Coeur d' Alene, will be playing football for the Broncos, and not the Huskies.  He was also offered by Florida, Wyoming and Idaho.

Blakely hauled in 51 catches for 598 yards and seven TD's as a junior.

Scout ranks Blakely the top prospect in the three-state area of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, and he is listed as the #8 tight end in the nation.

Harsin Says GO BRONCOS!

Offensive Tackle Andres Preciado Commits to Boise State

The new Bronco coaches have reeled in yet another one, according to several reports.  Andres Preciado, a 6-6, 245-pound offensive tackle from Mar Vista High School in California (San Diego area) has committed to play football at Boise State.

Boise State's Home Record of 95-5 in the Last 100 Games Ranks Seventh in College Football History

Boise State's home record of 95-5 from the Weber State game of 1998 through the present ranks as the seventh-best 100-game home record in college football, right behind Nebraska's 96-4 mark amassed from 1987-2001.

In fact, the Cornhusker mark is the record Boise State is shooting for, trying to eclipse yet another modern record.  If the Broncos are fortunate enough to win their first three games this fall in Bronco Stadium, one of those losses will drop from their last 100 home games, and Boise State would then have a mark of 96-4, tying the famous Nebraska teams.

If Boise State can tie Nebraska with that home mark of 96-4, they'll have to be satisfied with that for a while.  Beginning in 1999, the Broncos put together a home winning streak of 14 games, which means that Boise State needs 18 consecutive home wins to own the modern record by themselves, which would put us into 2016.

The incredible Pennsylvania teams from 1889-1899 and the Princeton Tigers (1881-1900) are in a statistical tie for the all-time college football record.  Penn put together a mark of 99-1 while Princeton was 98-0-2.

Alabama, Harvard, Nebraska and Yale have two entries in the Top 25.  Here is the complete list:

1.    Pennsylvania 99-1 (Rutgers game of 1889-Lafayette game of 1899)
2.    Princeton 98-0-2 (Michigan game of 1881-Syracuse game of 1900)
3.    Notre Dame 96-1-3 (1904-Minnesota game of 1927)
4.    Yale 96-2-2 (M.I.T. game of 1886-1901)
5.    Michigan 96-2-2 (Northwestern game of 1893-Case game of 1909)
6.    Nebraska 96-4 (1987-2001)
7.    Boise State 95-5 (Weber State game of 1998-2013)
8.    Miami of Florida 95-5 (North Texas game of 1980-Pittsburgh game of 1996)
9.    Alabama 94-5-1 (1904-1936)
10.  Army 93-5-2 (1922-1938)
10. Penn State 93-5-2 (Dickinson game of 1899-Middlebury game of 1922)12.  Harvard 93-6-1 (1886-Dartmouth game of 1897)
13.  Yale 91-5-4 (1902-Lafayette game of 1913)
13.  Colgate 91-5-4 (Hamilton game of 1905-St. Bonaventure game of 1937)
15.  Florida State 93-6-1 (Louisville game of 1987-Alabama Birmingham game of 2004)
16.  Dartmouth 91-6-3 (1912-1932)
17.  Alabama 92-8 (Southern Mississippi game of 1957-Georgia game of 1991)
18.  Tennessee 90-7-3 (1925-1940)
19.  Harvard 88-8-4 (Amhurst game of 1897-1907)
20.  Oklahoma 90-10 from Kansas State game of 1997-2013
21.  Michigan 88-9-3 (1968-1981)
22.  Princeton 87-8-5 (1901-Lafayette game of 1914)
23. USC 89-10-1 (1922-Pacific game of 1934)
24.  Washington 87-9-4 (1908-California game of 1926)
25.  Texas 88-10-2 (1910-Rice game of 1927)
25.  Texas 88-10-2 (TCU game of 1967-1985)
25.   Florida   89-11 (Georgia game of 1994-South Florida game of 2010)
25.  Nebraska 89-11 (Texas A&M game of 1969-Oklahoma State game of 1984)

No New Tweets from Harsin...

Boise State received the two commitments yesterday.  Today is the day all of yesterday's recruits leave Boise, and it is a popular day for coaches offering the recruits.  So far, Coach Harsin has been quiet on Twitter.  We hope it gets noisy soon.

Zavior Hoxie A Bronco

We have multiple reports that Zavior Hoxie, a 5-11, 180-pound running back and cornerback from Buford High School in Georgia, has committed to Boise State.

Hoxie had offers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Wake Forest, Navy, Arkansas State, East Carolina and Georgia State.

Another Possible Commit, Possibly Another?

We have word that Boise State has signed multiple commits tonight.  We've already shared one with you--working on confirmation of more than one.

Jeremy McNichols Switches from Utah to Boise State

Jeremy McNichols, a 5-11.5, 185-pound wide receiver from Rancho Santa Margarita High School in California has switched his commitment from Utah to Boise State.

McNichols was highly impressed with the new Boise State football staff, the city of Boise, and the academics at Boise State.

Besides Utah, McNichols also had scholarship offers from Fresno State and Colorado State and interest from USC, Oregon State, Arizona, San Diego State and Washington State.

Nearing Completion of Two More Factoids...

Boise State is nearing two more historical accomplishments, with a real shot at setting the modern record for the fastest team to reach 400 wins as a four-year school (they could have tied the all-time record with a better 2013).  The Broncos can also achieve history for their 100-game home record with three wins in Bronco Stadium to begin the season.

More on those two marks soon on Blue Football Through and Through!

New Broncos for the 2014 Season

Boise State coach Bryan Harsin has announced new additions to his roster--a few we knew about, some we did not.

Kolton Donovan, started at long snapper for Southern Utah last year, helping them defeat #1 (FCS) Eastern Washington on a game-winning field goal.  He went on a church mission last year, and has transferred to Boise State.  Donovan was one of Phil Steele's Top College Freshman in 2012, and when he graduated from high school, was rated as the #1 long snapper in the nation after earning All-America honors his senior year.

Dusty Fisher is already on campus, was an all-state wide receiver at Douglas High School, netting 1,100 receiving yards and 15 touchdown passes his senior year.

Jerhen Ertel was a two-year starter for Glendale Community College on the offensive line.

A.J. Richardson signed with Boise State last year, but will enroll this spring.  He was a Semper Fidelis All-American his senior year, ranked as one of the top 10 receivers in the West.  Richardson helped Narbonne High School capture back-to-back CIF Division Championships in 2011 and 2012.  In her senior year, A.J. caught 60 passes for 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Skyler Siebold played both running back and defensive back in high school.  In his senior year, Seibold rushed 85 times for 571 yards and seven touchdowns and posted 34 tackles on defense.

Thomas Stuart guided Butte Junior College to the Junior College National Championship.  Stuart was Nor-Cal Conference Offensive Player of the Year, completing 132-204 passes (64.7%)  for 1,927 yards and 29 touchdowns against just three interceptions.

Dylan Sumner-Gardner was an Under Armour All-American his senior season, and is ranked as the #7 high school safety in the nation.  Sumner-Gardner  had 141 tackles, including 14 for loss, and had three interceptions and three forced fumbles his senior year.

Thomas Byrd Hired As Boise State Graduate Assistant

Gotta' admit, I loved this guy when he played here.  If he can coach with the same passion that he played with, and get his players to do the same, he'll do great!

Boise State Lands Quarterback Tommy Stuart

Junior College quarterback Tommy Stuart has committed to play at Boise State, according to several sources.  Stuart has three years to play two, meaning he could redshirt.  More likely, the Broncos need him right away.

Stuart (6-0, 195) led Butte Community College to the JC national championship with a sparkling 12-0 record last year, helping the team set school records for points and total offense.  Stuart said he chose Butte out of high school for its history of producing quarterbacks, including Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay.

Stuart's father played special teams on Idaho State's 1981 Division I-AA national championship team.

Boise State Gets Big Defensive Tackle

According to several published reports, defensive tackle Dereck Boles has committed to Boise State.

Boles, a 6-2, 275-pound run stopper from Lakeland, Florida, is the twelth commit to the Broncos. Interestingly enough, former Coach Chris Petersen and his staff received six of those commitments prior to leaving in December, while Coach Bryan Harsin and his new staff have generated six since getting to Boise less than three weeks ago.

Report: Nick Patti Will Leave Boise State

Nick Patti, an Elite 11 quarterback in high school who was unable to crack the starting lineup at Boise State, will leave the school, according to a television reporter in Florida, Patti's home state.

Patti, a running quarterback brought in to run former Coach Chris Petersen's new "Pistol" offense, would have had to learn the new exciting offense that Coach Bryan Harsin has planned, which is essentially a return to Boise State's best years.

Patti was the 8A Florida Player of the Year after his senior year at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.  He was the Offensive Scout Player of the Year in his redshirt season of 2012, and was 8-11 for 63 yards this season.

The news means Boise State will have senior quarterback Grant Hedrick, sophomore Ryan Finley and freshman walk-on Richard Hoppe on the roster and will likely need at least two quarterbacks in the upcoming 2014 recruiting class.  There are several rumors of possible recruits at that position, but nothing official.  We will announce that news as soon as we know!

Broncos Secure Another Great Running Back

Running back Cory Young has committed to Boise State, giving the Broncos two great new backs (Ryan Wolpin will walk on this fall.) The departure of Aaron Baltazar made this necessary, and Young fits the bill.  He's a three-star prospect (5-10, 180) from Norco High School in California with explosive speed.

Ryan Wolpin To Play for Boise State

Ryan Wolpin (5-8, 195) has accepted an opportunity to walk on at Boise State, according to several sources.  The Santa Margarita (California) power running back accepted a scholarship to Northern Colorado, but with the buzz around Boise State's new coaching staff, Wolpin has decided he'll play for Coach Bryan Harsin.  If you like Charles Bertoli, you'll love this guy!

Wolpin was an All-Conference selection in both his junior and senior seasons in one of the toughest high school conferences in the nation, the Trinity League.  Playing against teams such as JSerra, Servite, Mater Dei, Orange Lutheran and St. John Bosco, Wolpin accumulated 1,629 yards and 31 touchdowns as a junior, helping Santa Margarita win the CIF and State championship.  In 2012, Wolpin rushed for 1,368 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Both Harsin and offensive coordinator Mike Sanford have said they want to emphasize a power running game.  Wolpin epitomizes that.

Harsin and Staff Rolling in Boise State Commits

Big Junior College offensive tackle Jerhen Ertel from Glendale High School in Arizona has joined the flurry of Boise State commitments.  Ertel committed to play football at Boise State today.  Ertel has Ryan Clady-like size (6-6, 280) and should provide immediate help to a Bronco line that all of a sudden had trouble protecting the quarterback.

Harsin Hires Junior Adams as Wide Receivers Coach, Adds Blake Baker and Lee Marks

Coach Harsin has completed his Boise State staff with the announcement of three additions today.  Junior Adams, former All-American wide receiver at Montana State and wide receivers coach at FCS power Eastern Washington, will take the reins of the Bronco wide receivers.  Blake Baker will be director of player personnel, while former Bronco Lee Marks will assist Jeff Pittman with the strength and conditioning program at Boise State.

Adams helped Eastern Washington make the playoffs in four of the last five seasons, including a national championship in 2010.  The Eagles were fourth in FCS in passing (349.8 yards per game) and had two receivers in the Top 10 nationally.  Freshman Cooper Kupp led the country with 1,691 yards this past season, fourth-most in FCS history.  Senior Ashton Clark was sixth with 1,233 yards.  That should excite current and prospective Bronco wideouts.

Adams also coached at another school familiar to Boise State fans.  He was an assistant at Prosser High School in Washington for coach Tom Moore, the father of Kellen and Kirby Moore.  In 2007, Adams helped Moore engineer a 14-0 record and the Washington 2A State Championship.

Baker spent the 2013 season as the safeties coach at Arkansas State under Harsin and was a defensive graduate assistant at Texas, where he also worked with Harsin.

Marks was a two-time All-Western Athletic Conference player for Boise State, and worked for three seasons as an assistant strength and condition coach under new Bronco strength coach Jeff Pitman at Colorado.  Pittman of course also coached at Boise State previously in the same capacity.  Marks also was the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at Arkansas State this past season.

Brandon Lewis Decommits

Well, you lose a longtime commitment at one DB spot, and get the #8 safety in the nation at another.  Sorry to see you go, Brandon, but I like the tradeoff.

Tennessee Su'esu'e Commits to Boise State

With Letter of Intent Day less than a month away, Tennessee Su'esu'e has pulled the trigger and committed to Boise State and its new exciting offense.

Su'esu'e, a 6-2, 295-pound road grader from East High School in Salt Lake City, played on both sides of the line at the previous level.  According to The Deseret News, Su'esu'e is expected to play center.

Last year, Su'esu'e anchored the East offensive line, helping his team run for 5,326 yards and 66 touchdowns.  That'll fit in nicely with Head Coach Bryan Harsin's plan to feature a power running game.

Welcome to Boise State, Tennessee!

David Lucero Commits to New Boise State

It's a different ballgame, baby!  With a hungry, exciting new staff, Boise State is getting recruits heretofore never thought possible.  Tight end David Lucero (6-5, 215) from Holtville High School in California joins the 2014 Blue Crew after committing to Head Coach Bryan Harsin.

Lucero had 30 receptions last season for 630 yards (21.0 yards per catch) and 10 touchdowns last year.  He had only one other offer from UTEP, but interest from California, Colorado, Colorado State, Hawai'i, Minnesota, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, SMU and Washington.

The Funeral for the BCS

Help Is On The Way!!!

For Boise State fans upset with five losses, upset with off-the-field squabbles and problems, upset with seeing a big lead evaporate into a tight game or a heartbreaking loss, upset with recruits leaving school or not working out.  Here comes the A-Team!

Dylan Sumner-Gardner Follows Yates to Boise State

Dylan Sumner-Gardner, who was excited to play for Defensive Coordinator Marcel Yates at Texas A&M, has decided to follow Marcel to Boise State.

The four-star safety should give the struggling Bronco secondary immediate help this fall.  In addition to A&M, Summer-Gardner, a 6-2, 197-pound hard-hitter from Mesquite, Texas was also offered by Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, LSU, Mississippi, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Nebraska.  Dylan was named to the high school All-America Team by Under Armour.

But he's coming to Boise State, and frankly, could turn the Broncos around in one year.  He is the eighth-rated safety in America and is ranked in the Top 100 overall by every recruiting service in the country.  He is a great tackler, in fact an enforcer across the middle, has great closing speed, and plays the run like a linebacker.

Yates is already making a difference, and welcome aboard the Bronco Express, Dylan!

Boise State Adds Home-And-Home Series With Cincinnati

Boise State is getting some great names to sign up to play on the Blue.  The Bearcats will visit Boise in 2019, with Boise State traveling in 2020.

All the other big-name teams turned down offers to play Boise State, so Idaho State will renew its series with the Broncos in 2015 in Boise.
