What I Gathered from Boise State's Day at the MWC Convention
The players, Jamar Taylor and Joe Kellogg, who have been there for every player-run practice this summer, were humble as we have come to know Chris Petersen's Bronco players. But they also revealed a confidence in their teammates in response to several questions about what to expect from newcomers in the lineup.
Both Kellogg and Taylor repeatedly said that the 22 seniors have been there before and have plenty of experience, even if the preseason magazines don't consider them "starters". You get the feeling that the practices are going well and that there is a strong bond among the players this fall.
Pete continually challenged his team, especially in response to a question regarding Boise State being chosen first in the preseason conference poll and was that a sign of respect considering how many seniors left last year. Coach Pete said that "...respect is earned, not given, and when you come up #1 in preseason polls it's given." In his words, Boise State has not earned anything yet. The Broncos were chosen first last year and didn't get it done, and he said his team wants to earn the respect game by game.

Boise State Two-Deep Released
Boise State head football coach released the following two-deep at MWC Media Days:
Some interesting notes--
Kirby Moore appears to have nailed down a starting role--look for big things from him.
Gabe Linehan has not nailed down the starting spot at tight end--apparently Chandler Koch is coming on.
That's a dynamite second team on the offensive line.
Ricky TAT is not a given at DT.
Jeremy Ioane right now is the starter at SS. How big would that be for the Broncos if he can be the next Jeron Johnson.
No change in kicker. Jake Van Ginkel is making his kicks in practice, but need to learn the Bronco Way.

Boise State Picked to Win Mountain West
Many preseason college football magazines are picking Boise State to drop off this season, but still win the Mountain West. And, in a vote of the media, the Broncos came out on top to win the conference in their final year, something they didn't get done last season.
Boise State received 27 first-place votes to 2 for Fresno State and one for San Diego State. Nevada didn't get a first-place vote, but finished second overall. Many believe Wyoming, which finished fourth in the media poll, will also be a factor.
The complete media poll can be found below:
Five Broncos were selected to the All-Mountain West preseason team: offensive lineman Joe Kellogg, wide receiver Matt Miller, defensive tackle Mike Atkinson, cornerback Jamar Taylor and punt returner Mitch Burroughs, who was chosen as the Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year.
The Broncos open the season August 31 at Big Ten power Michigan State.

Clady One of Five Linemen in NFL History to Reach Pro Bowl in Two of First Four Seasons
Former Boise State standout All-American tackle Ryan Clady is one of just five offensive linemen in NFL history to make the Pro Bowl in two of their first four seasons, according to the league office.
Clady and the Denver Broncos are trying to work out terms for an extension of Clady's contract. Currently, the historic achiever ranks 31st among NFL linemen in salary.

40 More Days Until Kickoff
July 4th has come and gone and now we can nearly say the same thing about the entire month of July. Once we hit August, it's no time at all until the Bronco football team puts on the pads and begins fall workouts.
Blue Football Through and Through will, as usual, be one of the leaders in the preseason preparation and you won't find better coverage of the team anywhere. We'll break down this year's Boise State team by position, its strength and weaknesses, and look at the 2012 schedule game by game. We'll preview the other Mountain West teams, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses and show what we expect each team will do this season. We'll analyze Boise State's opponents, as we've already begun to do with Michigan State. And, as you have been accustomed, we'll have the exclusive analysis of Boise State's chances as determined by the popular EA Sports software NCAA Football.
All that is coming up in the weeks ahead of us leading to the big August 31 game at Michigan State.

Boise State-Washington Game Moved
Boise State's game at the University of Washington has been changed to August 31, the first game at the newly-renovated Husky Stadium. Boise State has also announced the addition of Tennessee-Martin to the schedule.
In addition to those two games, Boise State will travel to BYU and play at Southern Mississippi, plus make their debut in the Big East Conference. In the final 2011 college football polls, BYU finished #19 and Southern Miss #25. While Washington wasn't ranked last season, the hope is that they will join those two in the rankings to give Boise State three out-of-conference teams in the Top 25, plus the tough Big East schedule. The Broncos will likely need a minimum of five Top 25 opponents to have a shot at the national title.
“The 2013 schedule is going to be one of the toughest, if not the toughest, schedule in school history,” Bronco Head Coach Chris Petersen commented. “I think fans know how tough it is to play on the road at Washington and BYU. Add a game against an always-talented Southern Miss team and a very competitive Big East schedule with some teams we’ve never faced before, and you have the makings of one of the strongest schedules in school history.”
