Boise State Ties Yale For Fastest School in History To Record 300 Wins in Major College Football

Boise State recorded its 300th win in major college football last week against Texas State. With that victory, the Broncos tied Yale for the fastest school in college football history to win 300.

Boise State started major college football in 1996, and its road to 300 is by far the best in modern times. Yale achieved its mark from 1886-1916 and three other Ivy League schools--Pennsylvania, Harvard and Princeton round out the top five.

The next-fastest modern FBS school to reach the milestone is Florida State, which took 12 more years to reach 300 in the 42-year period between 1954 and 1996.

*Note: Some websites mistakenly show Boise State's 1997 record as 4-7. The Broncos lost their season opener that year to Cal State-Northridge, but the NCAA ruled that Northridge had to forfeit games for using ineligible players. Both Boise State and the NCAA officially and correctly show that game as a win.
