Taylor Tied for 1st Among CB's in Bench Press at Combine

Super corner Jamar Taylor proved he's the latest of former Broncos to dazzle at the NFL Combine.  Do ya think the NFL is finally getting smart?  Nah, but Taylor finished 1st among cornerbacks at the Combine.

Way to go, Jamar!

Boise State and Virginia Ink Deal To Play Two

In an amazing move, Boise State Athletic Director Mark Coyle announced today that the school has agreed to a home-and-home series with Virginia, currently with the Atlantic Coast Conference.  Boise State will travel in 2015, with the Cavaliers coming to Bronco Stadium in 2017.

Expect this to be just the first of many such announcements as ESPN will make it possible for such games in Bronco Stadium to occur.

Boise State Conference Schedule Takes Shape

It's been speculated on for months, and now the Boise State football team has an idea on its conference schedule.

This fall, the Broncos will host Air Force, Nevada, New Mexico and Wyoming, while playing Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State on the road.  Those sites will switch in 2014.  The Broncos will not play Hawai'i, San Jose State nor UNLV in either 2013 or 2014.

Boise State also learned its Mountain West schedule in 2015, 2016 and beyond.  In 2015, Boise State hosts Air Force, Hawai'i, New Mexico and Wyoming and will travel to play Utah State, San Jose State, Colorado State and UNLV, then will switch home dates with those teams in 2016.

In a blow to rivalries, Boise State will not play either Fresno State, Nevada or San Diego State in either 2015 or 2016.  The conference announced that the four-year cycle will then repeat in 2017 and beyond.  However, given the dynamic nature of conference expansion, I'd wager that there will be changes before the four years are up.

Who Rushed for More Yards in Rookie Season: O.J. Simpson, Earl Campbell or Doug Martin?

O.J. Simpson averaged just 600 yards per season in his first three years in the NFL.  Earl Campbell had 1,450 yards in his rookie year.

The winner of those three:  Boise State's Doug Martin, who rushed for 1,454 yards this year for Tampa Bay.  The all-time rookie record is held by Eric Dickerson, who exploded for 1,808 yards.

1.  Eric Dickerson, Los Angeles Rams (1,808 in 1983)
2.  George Rogers, New Orleans Saints (1,674 in 1981)
3.  Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins (1,613 in 2012)
4.  Edgerrin James, Indianapolis Colts (1,553 in 1999)
5.  Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1,454 in 2012)

Richardson Commits To Boise State

I couldn't let this one out of the bag over the weekend, but now I can release the news.  A.J. Richardson, the wide receiver who formerly committed to California but reconsidered after a coaching change, is now in Boise State's camp.  The 6-1, 185-pound wideout for Nathaniel Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California is rated as one of the top 50 receivers in the country by scouting services.  And, as those services have no idea how to rate talent, since Boise State signed him that means Richardson is likely one of the top 10 receivers in the nation.

Richardson has a knee injury and will greyshirt.  He committed to Boise State but did not sign, hoping to get academic issues taken care of first.  We do not show him in the 2013 recruiting class for this reason--when he officially signs with Boise State, we will report that.

LOI Day Across the Country

Check our Tab "2013 Recruiting Class" and see how our list compares to the official Boise State announcement of recruits.  Several recruits committed in the last week, but we believe our list to be fairly accurate.

Titus Young Joins Austin Pettis on Rams

One of the best wide receiver duos in the nation at Boise State is now reunited in St. Louis.  Titus Young, cut by Detroit, has been picked up by the Rams.  Young has caught 81 passes the last two years since being drafted in 2011.

Cameron Hartsfield Commits to Boise State

A rash of late commitments for Boise State, later than usual.  Earlier in the week, the Broncos got Tanner Shipley.  We now have word that cornerback Cameron Hartsfield (5-10, 185) from Allen High in Texas has given his commitment to Coach Petersen and staff.
