Chase Hatada Commits to Boise State

Boise State will soon be getting the services of another defensive lineman to shore up depth.  The Broncos have gotten several great players from Rocklin, California, and here's another:

Chase Hatada (6-3, 260) called the Bronco coaching staff to announce his commitment.  Chase has great Bronco connections:  First, he is the son of Ian Hatata, a 110-meter hurdles champion from Boise State in 1996.  Second, he will try to carry on in the footsteps of Chase Baker, also a graduate of Rocklin High School.

Grant Hedrick Signs with British Columbia

Given Hedricks dual talents as a runner and a thrower, I thought he might thrive in the Canadian Football League.  Even better:  he is playing in British Columbia, not far from his parents and many Bronco fans.

Go up there and show 'em what we already know, Grant!

Quarterback Grant Hedrick also has been invited to a Denver mini-camp.

Jay Ajayi Drafted By Miami in Fifth Round

It took much longer than expected, after all the lies about Jay Ajayi's knee.  Today, the Bronco superstar was drafted in the fifth round by the Miami Dolphins.
Ajayi rushed 347 times for 1,823 yards and 28 touchdowns last season, leading Boise State to a Fiesta Bowl victory over Pac-12 runners-up Arizona.  Ajayi also caught 50 passes out of the backfield for 535 yards and four scores.

Ajayi ranked ninth in the NCAA last season in rushing yards per game, and was the third-best among draft-eligible backs.

In his three-year career at Boise State, Ajayi ran for 3,796 yards and 50 touchdowns.  He had a chance to break Cedric Minter's school record of 4,475 rushing yards with another season, but chose to declare early for the NFL Draft.
