Blue Through and Through broke the story this morning at 12:15 ET, being the first source to report that Northern Illinois would finish in the Top 16 and get the automatic bid to a BCS Bowl. After we reported it, the other three BCS prognosticators all changed their projections one by one to fall in line with our story. First, the BCS Guru agreed with us, then Brad Edwards and finally Jerry Palm.
Sports Illustrated has now confirmed our initial report and indicated that Northern Illinois will play in the Orange Bowl against Florida State.
