Randy Trautman

We are sorry to report the passing of the great Randy Trautman.

Randy died last night at the age of 53.  He walked on at Boise State in 1978, and helped the 1980 team win the NCAA Division I-AA National Championship.  Trautman's great motor and fierce competitiveness resulted in 266 tackles and 29 tackles for loss in his Bronco career.  He is the only Boise State player in the College Football Hall of Fame, and won four All-America honors.

Trautman was drafted in the ninth round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, and played with Calgary of the Canadian Football League from 1982-1985.

In 2005, Trautman was named by Bronco fans to the All-Time Boise State Football Team, and the Big Sky Conference ranked Randy #26 in their "50 Greatest Male Athletes".

Randy, you and your great heart will be missed.  Our prayers and condolences to Randy's family during this time.
