Path Clears for Alabama-Florida State Matchup, Boise State Now Moves Into Consideration

The #1 factor in ranking teams is their Biggest Wins, losses are most damaging if they are to unranked teams.  This encourages teams to schedule other Top 25 teams.

This poll had Clemson, UCLA, Auburn and Michigan State ranked before anyone else "in the know".  And, everyone now knows how solid those four teams are.

USC's upset win (although not really, the way they have been playing since they fired Kifford), moves them into the Top 25 and makes it an easy path to the mythical national championship for Alabama and Florida State.  Boise State's three losses look legitimate, although they lack a big win.  However, they moved past Washington for consideration, as the Huskies have gotten worse as the season has gone on.  BYU, Texas and Boise State all have the same records, but BYU heat both of those teams and has to be on top of both.  Boise State will always be ranked ahead of a Pac-12 or Big 12 team with the same record because those two conferences stubbornly refused Boise State's request to join their conferences.

Unlike the polls, the Blue Football Through and Through Top 25 uses logic.  Mississippi must be ahead of LSU because both teams have the same record and the Rebels beat the Tigers.  The polls seem to forget the actual results.  We don't.

The SEC has eight teams in the Top 25, while the Pac-12 has five.  Those are (by far) the top two conferences in the nation this year.
