This Week in the BCS Top 25, Week 10

We finally have some interesting college football.  After weeks of games in which the favorites won nearly everything, the last two weeks have seen three Top 10 teams upset.  The favorites, however, have had their way.  Does this even out in the last few weeks or do the polls really have the right 10 teams?

Well I think we have our answer.  Most of the Top 10 is ranked just about right.

#1  LSU beat #2 Alabama 9-6 in a game void of touchdowns.
#2  Alabama missed three field goals and lost to #1 LSU 9-6.
#3  Oklahoma State dodged a bullet in the final seconds to beat #14 Kansas State 52-45.
#4  Stanford's Andrew Luck has had to play well into the fourth quarter to stave off Oregon State 38-13.
#5  Boise State leads UNLV 28-14 in the third.
#6  Oklahoma awoke with four touchdowns in the third quarter to hold off Texas A&M 41-25.
#7  Arkansas downed #9 South Carolina 44-28.
#8  Oregon leads Washington 24-17 in the third.
#9  South Carolina has fallen to #7 Arkansas 44-28.
#10 Nebraska fell to Northwestern 28-25.
#11 Clemson does not play.
#12 Virginia Tech is idle.

#13 Houston blasted UAB 56-13.
#14 Kansas State lost to #3 Oklahoma State 52-45.

#15 Michigan lost to Iowa 24-16.
#16 Penn State does not play.
#17 Michigan State came from behind to beat Minnesota 31-24.
#18 Georgia blew out New Mexico State 63-16.
#19 Arizona State lost to UCLA 29-28.
#20 Wisconsin got back in its habit of running up the score, pulverizing Purdue 62-17 with 24 points in the second half.
#21 Texas blasted Texas Tech 52-20.
#22 Auburn does not play.
#23 Georgia Tech takes a well-deserved day off.
#24 West Virginia fell to Louisville 38-35.
#25 Southern Mississippi thumped East Carolina 48-28.

Elsewhere:
TCU came from behind to top a tough Wyoming team 31-20.
Air Force downed Army 24-14.
San Diego State defeated New Mexico 35-7.
Toledo lost to Northern Illinois 63-60.
Tulsa squeaked by UCF 24-17.
Fresno State is losing to Louisiana Tech 31-7 in the second.

Projected Computer Ratings for One-Loss Teams

The following assumes that Boise State is fortunate enough to win their last five games against a tough field down the stretch, that Houston wins out and that the other teams listed finish the season with one loss.  This does not take into account 2 and 3-loss teams that might finish ahead of the 16 teams below.

Projected Computer Composite in this scenario:

1.    Oklahoma State 21 + 23 + 25 + 24 + 24 + 24 = 95.00
2.    Oklahoma 22 + 25 + 22 + 25 + 22 + 25 = 94.00
3.    LSU 25 + 24 + 23 + 22 + 23 + 22 = 92.00

4.    Arkansas 24 + 18 + 24 + 19 + 25 + 23 = 84.00
5.    Boise State 20 + 21 + 21 + 23 + 21 + 17 = 83.00
6.    Alabama 23 + 12 + 14 + 21 + 20 + 21 = 76.00
7.    Kansas State 14 + 19 + 15 + 20 + 19 + 20 = 73.00
8.    Clemson 15 + 20 + 13 + 18 + 17 + 18 = 68.00

9.    Oregon 19 + 14 + 12 + 15 + 18 + 19 = 66.00

10.  Virginia Tech 17 + 16 + 18 + 16 + 15 + 13 = 64.00
11.  Nebraska 16 + 22 + 17 + 14 + 16 + 14 = 63.00
12.  South Carolina 12 + 17 + 19 + 17 + 12 + 16 = 62.00
